The Tovertafel brings the Rijksmuseum to nursing homes
The large art pieces of the Rijksmuseum can be admired as of now on the Tovertafel. Game developer Marije says: “We wanted to bring art closer to residents in nursing homes. By projecting the Rijksmuseum’s collection onto the Tovertafel in an interactive game, they too can enjoy the beautiful Masterpieces.”
In the Masterpieces game, colorful paint balls roll across the table. Players make large arm movements to smash themWith each explosion of paint, a little more of a beautiful masterpiece is revealed that hangs in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The great thing is: everyone can participate, because it cannot go wrong. And you won’t get your hands dirty from this creative activity.
Recognisable themes
The paintings contain recognizable themes such as animals, hobbies and domesticity. Consider, for example, well-known works such as “The Milkmaid” by Johannes Vermeer, “Children of the Sea” by Jozef Israëls or “Morning Ride along the Beach” by Anton Mauve. Maybe you know them? These paintings give rise to a conversation and bring positive emotions. This makes it possible to enjoy the collection of the Rijksmuseum, even from nursing homes!
